Root admin

A root admin is a normal admin sign-in that has additional capabilities.
The emoticon in the footer indicates what kind of admin you are:
root admin
root admin
rep user
Each INTERDUBS segment can have as many root admins as are required.
management of other admins
A root admin can control the other admins of the system. They will find a menu called 
manage admin users in the utils tab.
approval of other admins
When a new person requests a new admin sign in that all root admins get an email with a link where they can approve or decline the requests. A root admin can decide not to receive such emails via the manage admin screen.
creation of other admins
Root admins can create other admin users.
editing
A root admin can edit the settings that control other admins. Like their 
home folder, admin user interface variations (rep, normal, etc).
quickReel source folders
A root admin can set specific folders are choices for quickReel sources for all other users.
configuration
Only root admins can change the segment wide configuration parameters.
address book export
Only root admins can export the INTERDUBS address book for their segment.
Folder permissions
A root admin can alter the Folder permissions so that non root admins can no longer write to a folder.
Client error notifications
When INTERDUBS can not display a client page then it displays the client error page. The client has the chance to submit some feedback via a form on that page. This will generate an email that will be sent to all admins. A root admin can decide not to receive such emails via the manage admin screen.
Nuking content
Only a root admin can remove all files in a folder and all their copies via the 
nuke function.
Changing home folders for other admins
A root admin can set the location of a home folder for other admins.
Updating ldap configuration
Only a root admin can update the INTERDUBS ldap settings.
Deleting email groups with all emails in them
Only a root admin can delete an entire email group with all addresses stored in it.
Configurable features
The following section describes features that are exclusive for a root admin when they have been set up via a configuration to do so.
Creation of folders in the root folder
INTERDUBS can be configured so that only root admins can create folders on the top level.
Upload of file outside of bandwidth limits
If a file gets uploaded that has a bandwidth outside of the bandwidth limits then INTERDUBS can notify all root admins about this. See Bandwidth#Auto_emailing_root_admins_when_clips_have_the_wrong_bandwidth for details.
