A folder in INTERDUBS can contain files or other folders. A folder name can contain any character.

The topmost folder is the root folder that has special attributes. See root folder for details.

It contains usually the folders that the creation of logins have created. Folders in INTERDUBS know about how many files are contained in them, and how big they are. Folders can contain folders again. There is no limit to the depth of this hierarchy.

The order how the client will see the files and folder in a given folder can be altered by change order of items. Simply drag the items into the desired order and hit save. Alternatively, you can also set the order to

  • older first
  • newer first
  • alphabetical

This influences the order of items in the client view, but not on the admin side. The order of items on the admin side you can influence by clicking on the name, size or date header on top of the list.

The Edit folder icon will open a screen that allows to edit the folder. You can add notes, upload an icon or rename a folder or alter other meta data, like the folder permissions.

When you delete a folder then all it's files will be moved into the trash.

Folders get connected to logins to make them client accessible. See Logins and files for detailes.

See also Folders with special functions for a list of folders that have a special meaning for the system.

Folders can, like titles, have any name. Folders should not contain a slash / character in their name, since this will interfere with certain parts of the system. See Folder name is incompatible with some features.
