Download


A download is the act of copying a file from a server to your local computer. Since clouds are a common metaphor for the network / servers -and happen to be part of the INTERDUBS logo- it is one of the less confusing tech terms. Also since the opposite direction is called upload.

client downloads

A client can download individual files or all files (via a zip file) in the folder. See disable downloads for details on how to control this ability.


download link email

By selecting one or more files in the folder listing and the clicking on the

 download link email

an email can be generated that will contain links that will start a download of the file in question.

admin downloads

As an admin you can download a file via the

 download

function directly in the admin interface. You find this on the

 edit file 

screen.

archive

As an admin you can use archive folder to download the contents of an entire folder. This will create a zip or tar. The file can be directly downloaded or asynchronously written to a plain vanilla ftp folder. The page for expired file cleanup shows this in detail.
