Purpose

INTERDUBS is great and it covers many uses. Clients can upload, etc etc.

Sometimes a normal FTP account is the way to go though. In these cases INTERDUBS Plain Vanilla is here for you.

Plain Vanilla FTP

The term Plain Vanilla FTP refers to FTP services by INTERDUBS that work like normal FTP. The name tries to differentiate such accounts from the ftp applications that INTERDUBS uses as an option to upload material.

Plain Vanilla FTP is just normal FTP.

INTERDUBS Plain Vanilla FTP uses the same infra structure then INTERDUBS. So up and download performance as well as reliability are equally amazing.

user account management

You can create and manage up to 90 Plain Vanilla FTP accounts for each INTERDUBS segment you have. Simply go to utilities and click on the Plain Vanilla FTP button.

Each account has the following parameters:

Access parameters

user name

The user name for your accounts will be generated by the system. It is basically your INTERDUBS name with a two digit number added. You can not change this at this point.

password

The system will generate a secure password for you, but you can change this. Of course a password that is not secure might pose the risk of your account by unauthorized users.

server

You can use the same address for your server name that use for web access.

Currently there are three server names in use:

www.interdubs.com is the US west coast data center 
ny.interdubs.com is the NY data center
e1.interdubs.com is the European data center

Additonal paramters

Space

INTERDUBS will update the space used on the plain vanilla ftp account every 60 minutes. If you have cleared up space then please give the system some time to reflect this.

email

Each Plain Vanilla FTP account has an email address assigned to it. This email is for the person that created the account and / or is responsible for the content and storage. This email is only for INTERDUBS accounting etc issues, it has nothing to do with the

Note

Under note you can add any additional information for the given account. For instance the project name, client or purpose could go in here. After a couple month nobody might remember what example08 was created for. Having a meaningful note will be very helpful for this.

Account deletion

At this point you can not delete a plain vanilla account that you created. Instead we recommend to change the password and remove all content from it. You could change the password to something like not used since DATE to indicated to your colleagues that this plain vanilla account would be available for re-use.

Target for INTEDUBS archives

Plain Vanilla FTP accounts can be used as destination for the Archive_folder feature.

Pricing

INTERDUBS Plain Vanilla FTP costs $1 per GB storage used. As usual the storage gets measured in the last day of the month.

We do not charge anything for the number of accounts you have created.

There is no cost for up or downloads - as long you use the account in a business to business situation. Please get in touch should you want to share FTP contents with a much larger, public audience (as in 100s of people).
