REEL_SOURCES
If you create a folder called REEL_SOURCES in the root folder, then all folders within it will become selection choices in quickReel.
Only folders directly inside of /REEL_SOURCES will be offered in the choice.
Only files directly inside of that folder will be loaded upon request.
An alternative can be to set a home folder for an admin or rep user.
Expiration
Since you probably do not want your reel sources to expire it might make sense to set a special expiration for content that you uploaded into this folder:
Edit folder
Go to the
folder edit
screen and change the permissions in the the field
folder controlled expiration
enter here the keyword:
never
Uploaded files will look into the folders that they are contained in and will use the first folder based expiration value. See Folder_controlled_expiration for details.
Example
An example might explain this best. Imagine "Proganda Films" would have used INTERDUBS in in the 90s. They would have made the following directory structure:
/REEL_SOURCES/Alex Proyas /REEL_SOURCES/Dante Ariola /REEL_SOURCES/David Fincher /REEL_SOURCES/David Kellogg /REEL_SOURCES/David Lynch /REEL_SOURCES/Gore Verbinski /REEL_SOURCES/Mark Romanek /REEL_SOURCES/Michael Bay /REEL_SOURCES/Michael Moore /REEL_SOURCES/Nick Brandt /REEL_SOURCES/Nigel Dick /REEL_SOURCES/Scott Marshall /REEL_SOURCES/Simon West /REEL_SOURCES/Spike Jonze /REEL_SOURCES/Stéphane Sednaoui
When they would have gone into a quickReel they would have seen this list to choose from:
Alex Proyas Dante Ariola David Fincher David Kellogg David Lynch Gore Verbinski Mark Romanek Michael Bay Michael Moore Nick Brandt Nigel Dick Scott Marshall Simon West Spike Jonze Stéphane Sednaoui
Choosing any of them would load all the clips that are in the respective directors folder.
Of course you can also use other topics than director names as the folder title.
See Folders_with_special_functions for other folders with special functionalities.
