INTERDUBS will store and forward any file. It will not alter the content of the files in any way.

Depending on the file type additional functionality might be available. The file type is determined by the extension of the name of the uploaded file.

In some rare cases the detection of clip attributes fails. See manually adding clip information for details on how still have decent client presentation.

Contents

clips

Quicktimes, Flash Video and Windows media files are considered to be clips. They will have a resolution and a length in INTERDUBS based on their actual content. Like image files INTERDUBS will also generate an icon image for them.

Quicktime

Files being played by the quicktime player have additional functionalities:

interactive icons

For a quicktime file an icon can be picked interactively

quickReel

In a quickReel the browser needs to understand what frame of the clip is being played. This feature is only available in the quicktime player.

coPLAY

Only Quicktime files can be used in coPLAY sessions.

overlay play

quicktime files can play in an overlay over the client side, if INTERDUBS has been configured accordingly.

Flash Video

INTERDUBS supports flv or flash media files by means of its own player. Icon creation is controlled by entering the time in seconds. Flv files can not be part of a quickReel and they will play in their own window, never in an overlay.

Windows Media

wmv files will be played by the windows media player. Their support is otherwise identical to that of flash video.

Future

File Formats develop. INTERDUBS will adopt to the needs of evolving technology. If you find that a format is not support (well) that you like to use extensively then please get in touch. We will look into it.
