Titles
INTERDUBS stores your files in a Database, not in a normal file system. This has the advantage that you can overcome many limitations that you would have with other filesystem based approaches:
Any name works
You can use any name that describes your file best. Feel free to use punctuation or characters like " or even the ` character.
Use the same title again
You can have different files with the same name
Instant space overview
Each folder in INTERDUBS knows how much space is occupied in it. At all times. Right away.
Title creation during upload
When you upload a file INTERDUBS will usually remove the extension of the file as well as it will turn _ characters into spaces for the tile.
The configuration setting keep extension can override this behavior.
Go to utilities and click on configuration to change this for your segment. This will only affect future uploads and as of June 3rd only works for web uploads in the admin interface.
Filenames
Sometimes INTERDUBS has to go back to file names. For web browsers for instance or when you download one or multiple files. INTERDUBS will determine the filename on it's own. You can alter it with the Edit_file#edit_file_name function. You can also control the file name creation via the configuration for File name template.
Filenames as fallbacks
Should INTERDUBS for whatever reason have no Title for a file then it will use the Filename instead. To indicate this the filename will be displayed in green instead of blue in a listing.
