Client facing network

INTERDUBS delivers the data your clients by one of three methods:

delivery via INTERDUBS

This is the default delivery route. Data flows directly out of the respective data center.

delivery via EdgeCast

When you set the configuration for Client Facing Network to

delivery via EdgeCast CDN

then the EdgeCast Content Delivery Network will be used to deliver your files to your client.

See [1] for an introduction to CDN systems in general

Other systems -like Wiredrive- use Edgecast exclusively.

delivery via Highwinds CDN [obsolete]

In December 2015 INTERDUBS consolidated our CDN choices. The option to use Highwinds network has been renamed to:

Edgecast - former choice Highwinds

This option only exists for documentation purposes.

Control of delivery method

Since Client facing network is a normal INTERDUBS configuration you can switch and select on the fly what works best for you. You have the choice of delivery method on a login, look or segment wide level.

Cost

There is no extra cost for our clients in using any of those delivery methods.

INTERDUBS vs CDN

In general INTERDUBS is super fast. Should your clients be VERY far away from the data center they use then a CDN can have advantages. Should you provide content to a VERY large audience then CDN use might be warranted. Please get in touch if you plan to deliver content to a larger - non business 2 business - audience. Technically this is not covered by our terms. We always find solutions for our clients based on the actual case.

Automatic disabling CDN delivery

Regardless of the actual setting, delivery via INTERDUBS is enabled in the following cases:

client pages are encrypted (https)
files are larger than 100 MB
downloads are disabled

Many browsers will show you from where assets are loaded. If you still see interdubs.com in clip URLs then probably one of the 3 cases mentioned here are in effect.

Please send us the link to a client page in case you are concerned if INTERDUBS uses a CDN.
