Concept
The INTERDUBS set top box syncs content from assigned logins automatically to the hardware. Playback of the content is then happening from the device, not via the network connection. This allows to play very very high quality content in full HD resolution (1920x1080) on virtually any network connection.
Hardware
The hardware of an INTERDUBS set top box has a network on one side and a video output on the other.
Data Input
The data flows into the set top box is either a wifi connection or a wired ethernet port. The network settings can be tweaked, but in 95% of call cases the DHCP default will work right out of the box. If you can connect your laptop to the Internet then the set top box will work as well.
Clip Output
The INTERDUBS set top box uses HDMI or DVI out put - alternatively analog video and audio outputs are available as well. The maximum resolution is full HD 1920x1080 at any given frame rate. Of course with audio.
Control
The control of the set top box is done via an infrared remote control. Basically the user only needs to navigate the folders (see below) select the clip and then hit play. Content management is entirely done via INTERDUBS.
Content Management
In order to make the use the set top box simple for the end use the entire content management is done on the INTERDUBS admin website.
Set up
Each set top box has a unique ID. Once connected to the Internet it will 'call home' and announce itself in the INTERDUBS system. A given set top box has to be assigned by INTERDUBS once to a given segment. Once assigned it will appear under
